Trish Schulz from the Killarney Branch of the St Vincent de Paul Society was proud to provide students at Killarney State School with a hand up at school by assisting families with the provision of school uniforms.
“The St Vincent de Paul Society realises the considerable impact that school costs can have on families to meet financial commitments. Vincentians are keen to ensure that children get every opportunity to make the most of their education and it is hoped that this ‘hand up’ will assist with this,” Mrs Schulz said.
Mrs Schulz presented a ‘hand up’ cheque of $1400 to school captains of Killarney State School Maddison Lamb and Danielle Thomas. The monies seek to support those students in need to have access to school uniform items.
“We realise that wearing a school uniform helps students feel more part of their school enabling them to focus on their education rather than ‘fitting’ in issues of not wearing uniform or wearing a uniform that is past its use by date,” Mrs Schulz said.
“We thank the St Vincent de Paul Society their support for our school community in giving our students a ‘hand up’ at this time with their schooling. It is wonderful to see that there are wonderful organisations in our community that are willing to look out for those that are having a few difficulties at times,” Maddison Lamb said.
“Your local Saint Vincent de Paul Centre is there to help,” Mrs Schulz said.
